Spain is coming to DTLA this Saturday!

October 4, 2017

I am lucky enough to have been to Spain a few times, traveling from Madrid to the Coast, to Barcelona and down to Granada. The sights are amazing, the people are kind, but the food, oh the food!

First of all, it’s as if the passion of Spain lies in it’s culinary roots. They infuse every single dish with such passion and flavor. From the humble Potatas Bravas (fried potatoes with aioli) to the incredibly complex Paella, they serve it all up with aplomb. And what do I do when I get a hankering for that sweet, sweet nectar known as Spanish food? Well I have yet to find a solid paella I want to write to you all about. However, DTLA’s Pershing Square may change things this Saturday…..

As the eventbrite reads:

The 3rd Annual Paella, Wine & Beer Festival is a celebration of Paella – a dish that comes to us from Spain, with origins dating back to the eighteenth century. It is a saffron-infused rice dish that marries bold flavors and delightful textures. Combined with a variety of meats, shellfish and vegetables, paella was originally a peasant’s meal cooked over an open fire in the fields and eaten directly from the pan using wooden spoons. The dish takes its name from the wide shallow pan that it is cooked in, traditionally called the paella or paellera. The recipe commonly known as paella can more accurately be referred to as Arroz a la Paella (rice done in paella-style). Today, paella recipes have become somewhat of an art form – ranging from decadent meats and seafoods to vegan and vegetarian.
