SWOPPER – my new desk chair

The Swopper

The box. I wonder what's insideMany of you will remember that I spoke highly about and gave away the SWOPPER on THE TALK a few weeks back. What made this a stand out that I wanted to share it with all the audience members and viewers of the show? Well here’s my quick and sweet read on why it’s a solid choice for a chair.

Swopper partsFirst, the chair comes in 3 parts. The seat, base and stand. That’s it. You don’t need any tools, not even one of those allen wrenches that seems to come with everything including sliced bread. I thought taking the thing out of the box was easy, but I’m wrong. Once you remove the parts, you stick the stand into the base, then seat on top of base (makes sense right?). Then you sit on the chair and swop around a couple times, and voila! The chair is ready for use by you, and more importantly, can withstand the punishment of a 6 year old and 4 1/2 year old who love to bounce.

My Swopper, Big BlueI’ve been using this chair almost exclusively for about 3 weeks. I find it helps with my posture, as it makes me sit up straight. Also, because I can swop around a bunch, I find I focus more at the task at hand. It sounds silly, but if my body is figeting (i.e. shaking around on the Swopper) my mind tends to focus more directly at whatever I’m doing. I discovered the effectiveness of this method of madness when I began taking my scripts and work to Spin Class. Because I have to work so much harder to focus, while still trying to sweat up a storm, I find my mind really focuses on things at hand and it becomes more ingrained in my memory. I’m not saying this will work for everyone, but since I get to move around, I don’t feel like I’ve been still and cooped up all afternoon, and can continue to work.

Another added benefit, this has become a good core workout helper! Because the Swopper engages your core to keep you balanced, using it in your core workout is a good one. I like to sit on the Swopper, raise my legs in air, so my body forms a ‘V’ and then twist. Yeah! For added points, I’ll throw in a KettleBell. I know the party never stops at my place.

I hope you all are having a great day! xoxo
