Year of the Monkey

February 8, 2016

Gong Hay Fat Choy, y’all! As a Chinese chick who grew up in a pretty traditional household, Chinese New Year is a great time of excitement but also anxiety.

Lemme ‘xplain. Many of you know Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar and changes yearly. Well to prep for the good luck of the new year, I go into cleaning hyperdrive. I clean and clean and make sure all the stuff is put away, and in a house where I make items to support 2 different businesses, that’s a feat! On top of that, the fun part of Chinese New Year is making sure you’re welcoming the new year in wonderful new clothing. So that means, when I shop, I keep tags on my clothes until Chinese New Year rolls around, and even if those print pants are making that shirt look as if I went temporarily blind, I roll out the door feeling like a million bucks cause, hey, it’s Chinese New Year and a new year in new clothes is where it’s at. Oh traditions.

There are other fun traditions I follow, but that’s for another time. What I want to share with everyone is predictions for your zodiac animal because I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love reading predictions! Enjoy!

2016: Year of the Fire Monkey
Fasten your seatbelt! In the Year of the Fire Monkey, February 8, 2016 to January 27, 2017, the confident and impulsive energy of Fire meets Monkey’s joyful, curious, and inventive nature.

Monkey, Rat, and Dragon natives practically have to be nailed down in this exciting time. Opportunities and inspiration are everywhere. Big dreams are within reach. This year’s energy sparks heated competition. Detailed planning attracts success. Be prepared to work hard and stand up for what you deserve.

The powerful March 8 Solar Eclipse encourages many, particularly Rabbit, Goat, and Pig natives, to dust off old dreams and reassess what’s possible. The more willing you are to boldly reconsider your comfort zone, make new friends, and put yourself out there, the greater your rewards.
